Pangkor Laut: Purely Paradise!
Pangkor Laut Resort (info & video)

   Pangkor Laut Resort Malaysia
“Pangkor Laut has some amazing sunsets, this is the shot I took from the dinner on the rocks. “

My wife and I recently took some time off work for a well needed brake.  We decide to go somewhere we could relax and enjoy the sun.  Pangkor Laut Resort came well recommend.

My wife is not to fond of flying in little planes so we drove to up to Lumut, which is about 4 hours, drive from Kuala Lumpur.  We left Kuala Lumpur on the Monday just after lunch and arrived to check into a hotel in Lumut for the night.  There was not much to choose from and we weren’t feeling too adventurous so it was KFC and off to bed.  The next morning we woke up bright and early to get the fairy across to Pangkor Laut.

The ferry ride across was fun we passed the Malaysia Naval base.  As a kid I used to make model boats so it was fun for me.  My wife was not as excited as me.  When we arrived we were stunned by the clear water and the fish swimming around the jetty.

This resort is designed with couples in mind.  In fact there were only couples there.  Perfect for a honeymoon or that romantic trip away you’ve been promising yourself.

There is no TV in the room, which is good.  It gives you time to enjoy the place.   Nature lovers are in for a treat.  The Island is 80% forest.  Uncle Yip the resident naturalist conducts daily tours through the jungle.  My wife and I decide that it would be fun to see the Island from the water.  So we rented a two-man kayak and paddle around the island.  It was a great way to see the island and get a work out at the same time.  Which gave us an excuse to try the out door bath.  Let just say that it’s a great way to sooth sore muscles.

Pangkor Laut Resort Malaysia
“This is Emerald Bay, the beach is white and the water is so clear!”

There are two things that I really like about Pangkor Laut one the place is in pristine condition and its natural beautiful and the second, the food.  There are several different restaurants.  Uncle Lim’s is this Chinese with a difference there is no menu.  With just the price of the meat, beef, fish, chicken, and prawns.  Then the chef prepares it exactly the way you want it.  If Chinese is not you thing then the grill is sure to get you.  The breakfast spread is good too.  For lunch every day we were at Emerald Bay after swimming and sun bathing there is plenty to eat and drink. As you can see from the photo the dinner on the Rocks is amazing it’s a four-course meal but forget the food the view was breath taking.  I’m not the best photographer in the world but I try.

The highlight of the week for me would have to be the sunset cruise on a “tongkang”.  The cruise takes you around the main island of Pangkor to finally anchor between the two. Which sets the scene for another one of those spectacular sunsets.  The cruise comes with a grilled dinner.  The food was great! My dear wife however gets sea sick and the other people on the cruise made several trips to the toilet.  While its romantic it not for those who get seasick.

All too soon our trip to paradise came to an end I highly recommend at trip to Pangkor Laut for those looking to send some romantic time together without the kids.
